LaVeda F. Helphingstine, 61, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, May 7, 2018 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.
Born May 11, 1956 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Eugene R. and Lela F. (Green) Helphingstine. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, attending Irving Elementary School and later Winfield High School. In 2008 she went to live at Southwind ResCare in Winfield.
LaVeda attended GracePointe Assembly of God Church in Winfield. She enjoyed crafts, reading, and listening to music.
Her family includes her sisters Shirley Parsons and husband, Irvin of Burden; Sharon Warren of Winfield; Gevena Rutkowski and husband, Stan of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister-in-law Pat Helphingstine of Winfield; and her 10 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great nephew.
In addition to her parents, LaVeda was preceded in death by her brother Bill Helphingstine, a sister, Imogene Anderson, and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Anderson and Jimmie Warren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 10, 2018 at GracePointe Assembly of God Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening, May 9, 2018 from 4 to 8 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in LaVeda's name for Southwind ResCare. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
