Obituary

KENNETH N. "WOODY" LOWDEN, 54, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Born on April 19, 1959 in Rapid City, South Dakota, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Glenda Louise (Johnson) Lowden. He was united in marriage to Nancy Gardner on March 17, 1984. They later divorced. He married Alyce Shaw on June 23, 2004.

Woody was a veteran of the United States Navy and had been a resident of Ottumwa since 2003. He was a truck driver for Swift Transportation for 11 years in Kansas and for 4 years for Heartland Express in Iowa. He attended Ottumwa Community Church.

His sons: Brandon and wife April of Colorado Springs, CO; Russell of Wichita, KS; Kenneth N. II and wife Jessica of Ft. Worth, TX; Christopher "Cody" of Colorado Springs, CO; and Jordan and wife Brandie of Oakley, KS;
His step-son: Jason Shaw and wife Erin of Kirksville, MO;
His father and step-mother: Kenneth and Nancy Lowden of Las Vegas, NV;
His mother and step-father: Glenda and Richard Martin of Dexter, KS;
His brother: Gary Lee Lowden of Hackney, KS;
His sister: Karen Mitchell and husband Jack of Benton, AR; and
His 6 grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Helen Johnson, and Marie and Michael Boyke; and his step-sister, Janet Arentz.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. 4001 E. 9th Ave. with Rev. Ted Brown officiating. Interment will take place at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday afternoon at the Moore Prairie Cemetery in Elgin, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2013. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Woody's name for the Tenco Foundation, 710 Gateway Dr. Ottumwa, IA, 52501. Contributions may also be made through the funeral home.
