Kenneth W. Stahmer, 63, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, April 17, 2026, at William Newton Hospital.
Born February 9, 1963, near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Gerhardt Stahmer and Ruby (Devroude) and Harold Stuber. He was raised and received his early education in Essington County, Pennsylvania, before moving at the age of 12, with his family to Eureka, Kansas. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1981. After high school, he worked numerous jobs in the construction field.
He was united in marriage to Cathleen M. Smokewood on June 18, 1988, at Timmon Chapel in Pittsburg, Kansas. The couple made their home in the Augusta area and Kenneth began his career as a mechanic at Boeing. He remained at Boeing and Spirit for over 30 years, retiring as an Aircraft Inspector in 2020.
After retirement, the family moved to a little farm outside of Udall, where Kenneth continued gardening and raising chickens. He enjoyed designing and crafting frames for Cathy’s art, and constructing tools and necessities for the farm. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and rose to the rank of 32nd degree Mason.
His family includes his wife Cathy Stahmer of Udall; his daughter Sarah Swift and husband, Tyler of Udall; his siblings, Nancy Schubert and husband, Nolan of Florida; Debbi Elder of Park City; Ralph Davis of Maine; and a host of farm animals.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father Gerhardt Stahmer, mother Ruby Stuber, step-father Harold Stuber, a brother Dennis Stuber, a sister Britina Marie Kovacs, and his biological mother Lynnlee Polisher.
The family will hold private services at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Kenneth’s name for the American Lung Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
