Kenneth R. Purdy, 63, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
Born January 2, 1948 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, he was the son of Max A. and Edith M. (Barrows) Purdy. He was raised on the family farm west of Blackwell and received his education in Blackwell.
After school Kenny joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. While on leave from the war he married Carol Ridgeway. To this union 1 daughter was born. The couple later divorced. After the war he was honorably discharged and returned to Blackwell.
On August 2, 1974 Kenny married Brenda Knight in Medford, Oklahoma. To this union 3 daughters were born. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Karen Mc Adams on July 25, 2008 in Mineral Wells, Texas. The couple made their home in Enid, Oklahoma.
He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his fellow Veterans.

His brothers: Larry Purdy and wife, Juanita of Blackwell, OK; John Purdy and wife, Pam of Blackwell, OK;
His sister: Carol Quinn and husband, Jerry of Bartlesville, OK;
His 18 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday January 3, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Ken's name for the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center Intensive Care Unit. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
