Obituary

KENNETH L. HENNING, 68, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at his home.

Born on August 17, 1946 in Kingman, Kansas, he was the son of George J. and Marcelline (Stump) Henning. He was raised and received his education in Zenda, Kansas, and graduated from Zenda High School in 1964. He received his radiology technicians' license from Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and later attended Pratt Community College.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Susan Beck on August 14, 1965 at the Willowdale Parish in Kingman County. He was employed at Wesley Medical Center as a radiology technician. The couple moved to Winfield in the 1960's and he worked at William Newton Memorial Hospital. They later moved to Lamar, Colorado and in 1970 moved to Kingman, Kansas. They returned to Winfield in the 1980's. He had been employed as a maintenance engineer for USD #465 for 29 years.

Kenneth was a member of the Willowdale Parish. He loved spending time with his family, especially watching his granddaughters play softball and basketball. He also enjoyed bass fishing, hunting and drag racing. The couple were avid RV r's and enjoyed spending time in Texas and Colorado.

His sons: Chad "Maynard" Henning and wife Cheri of Winfield, KS; and Shawn "Ozz" Henning and wife Jessica of Winfield, KS;
His mother: Marcelline Henning of Spivey, KS;
His brothers: Norman Henning and wife Linda of Kingman, KS; and Clifford Henning and wife Pat of Lenexa, KS;
His sisters: Dorothy Miller and husband Jeffrey of Wichita, KS; and KayAnn Anderson and husband Larry of Halstead, KS;
His granddaughters: Taryn, Tysha and Olivia; and
Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George and his sister, Barbara Welch.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 23, 3014. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, December 22, 2014. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Kenneth's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
