Obituary

Kenneth Hart Glasgow, 84, of Rainbow Bend, passed away Monday night, April 26, 2021 at his home.

Born July 21, 1936 in Winfield, he was the son of Freddie and Hope (Garwood) Glasgow. He attended school at Rainbow Bend through seventh grade. He then attended school in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1954. Kenny joined the United States Navy in 1956 and served as a Radioman assigned to the flight crew. He was stationed in Newfoundland but home base was at Pax River near Washington D.C. He served two years active duty and two years in the Navy Reserve before receiving an honorable discharge.

Kenny met Jo while in Washington D.C. and three months later on April 12, 1958, the couple was married. They moved to Rainbow Bend in October 1958. Kenny worked on drilling rigs with his brother for a short time before making a career at General Electric in 1961. He worked as a Manufacturing Engineer and was on the secret program for the B2 Stealth Bomber. He retired from GE in 1998.

Kenny was a member of the East Creek Band, The Campbell's, and Les Gilliam Band Silver Lake. He and Jo traveled many years to perform at Silver Dollar City and numerous festivals around the country. He also performed on a Carnival Cruise and for the John Wayne birthday celebration at Winterfest, Iowa. He was very involved in the Walnut Valley Festival, where he met the girls who later became known as the Dixie Chicks and Alison Krauss before they were known. He was a founding director for the county concerts in Winfield. When he was younger, Kenny enjoyed building guitars out of old leftover Mossman parts. Kenny was known for his distinctive aluminum bass, his wit, and his story telling, and used to have a slight resemblance to Kenny Rogers. The middle stone at the entryway to Island Park is a carving of Kenny. In addition to music, Kenny enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding his Harley, and restoring his high school car, a 1940 Ford Coupe. He owned his own plane for a while and served on the township board for many years. Above all else, Kenny loved to be with family and friends, and always had a dog. Jo preceded him in death on May 12, 2020.

His family includes his daughters, Kathryn Glasgow and wife, Judy Regehr of Rainbow Bend; Susan Morton and husband, Don of Udall; Theresa (Travis Beeman) DeMint of Rainbow Bend; his grandchildren, Amanda Selenke, Sarah Selenke, Christopher (Tasha) Selenke, Scott DeMint, Melissa (Steven) Asper; his great grandchildren, Issac (Kayla) Selenke, Aliyah (Mark) Clifford, Ayden Clark, Kira Selenke, Kali Selenke, Kenzi Selenke, Sebastian Gregory, Ava Gregory, Teagan Asper, Madelyn Asper; his great-great grandsons, Matthew Moody and Michael Selenke; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by a brother John Glasgow.
