KEITH WOOD, 81, of Winfield, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012 at William Newton Hospital.
Born February 2, 1931 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Flavy and Ruth (Martin) Wood. He grew up on a farm north of Winfield and attended Winfield schools. Keith graduated Winfield High School in 1949.
Mr. Wood was in the National Guard for 17 years. He reached the rank of First Lieutenant and stepped down to Master Sergeant before retiring.
Keith was united in marriage to Jean Fiensy on April 19, 1952 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Keith worked at Gott for a short time before beginning his career with the Kansas Department of Transportation. He retired as a supervisor after 42 years of service with KDOT.
Keith and Jean were longtime members of the First Christian Church in Winfield. Keith was very involved in the church as well as Meals on Wheels and volunteered at William Newton Hospital. He enjoyed bicycling, tennis, wood carving, KU basketball and Nebraska football. He especially loved spending time with his family.

His daughter: Lori Roths and husband, Benny of Arkansas City, Kansas;
His four grandchildren: Michelle and Megan Wood, Dallas Roths and wife, Aubrey; and Jamie Larson and husband, Luke; and
His great grandchildren: Landen and Jaycie Larson.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at First Christian Church in Winfield. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials have been established in Mr. Wood's name for the First Christian Church and for the Winfield Food Panty. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
