Obituary

Reverend KB Murray, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, February 23, 2023, at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita.

He was born in Littlefield (Lamb County), Texas, March 9, 1929. The family moved to the Luther community north of Big Spring, (Howard County) Texas when he was six years old. He attended the Gay Hill country school there, then attended and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1946.

Upon graduation, KB worked for American Airlines in Big Spring, Texas, Los Angeles, California, and Dallas, Texas. He met and married Elizabeth Louise Rains in Dallas on September 9, 1949. KB continued working for American Airline in Dallas for twelve years, until surrendering to the call to preach the Gospel. He resigned from American, moved his family to Springfield, Missouri, and attended Baptist Bible College, graduating in May 1961.

He accepted the pastorate of the Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma, moving there in February 1961, prior to his graduation. KB pastored there for four years and then took the pastorate of the Bible Baptist Church in Neodesha, Kansas. He labored there three years until September 1967, when he answered the call to pastor the Millington Street Baptist Church in Winfield beginning October 7, 1967. Reverend Murray pastored Millington Street Baptist Church for 42 years before becoming pastor emeritus in May 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Maude (Craghead) Murray, a son Larry Murray, daughter Debbie Williams, and Louise, his wife of almost 60 years.

He is survived by daughters, Christy Smith of Derby; Mischelle Foster of Owasso, OK; sons, Darell Murray of Winfield; Joel Murray of Atlanta, GA; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Millington Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet from 4 to 6 that evening.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials in KB's name for Millington Street Baptist Church and for the Baptist Bible Fellowship Missions Office. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
