Obituary

Kathryn "Kay" Elizabeth Russell, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, April 7, 2023, at William Newton Hospital.

Born January 15, 1949, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Paul Leslie and Lois Olive (Kelly) Dimit. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1967. Following school she began her career as a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Winfield.

She was united in marriage to Dale Russell on November 3, 1971 at First United Methodist Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield, where Kathryn continued working as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Ward, and later for Dr. McCannon. She spent most of her life as a loving homemaker, caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and beloved pets. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Winfield Saddle Club. Kathryn enjoyed watching birds, working puzzles, going to sidewalk sales and auctions, doing yard work, and riding horses. She especially loved time with her family including attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She had an unconditional love for animals.

Her family includes her husband, Dale Russell of Winfield; her children, Troy Arie of Norman, OK; Jeff Russell of Emporia; Julie Childs and husband, Jason of Waterloo, SC; Tyson Russell and wife, Krista of Winfield; Tony Russell and wife, Lacie of Winfield; and her grandchildren, Nathaniel Russell, Alissa Russell, Abigail Green, Seairra Walker, Alexandra Arie, Dakota Russell, Sydney Russell, Andon Russell, Diezel Russell, Kash Russell, and Kailor Kay Russell.

In addition to her parents Kathryn was preceded in death by a brother Tom Dimit, a sister Peggy Bean, and two grandchildren, Nathaniel Russell and Alissa Russell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 7 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Kathryn's name for the Cowley County Humane Society and for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
