Obituary

KARON L. NEUBECKER, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, March 17, 2014 at William Newton Hospital.

Born July 11, 1941 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of Leonard and Lois (Pickens) Peninger. She was raised and received her early education in Burden. The family later moved to Winfield where she attended Winfield High School. After high school, she attended Cowley County Community College.

Karon was united in marriage to Eddie F. Neubecker on September 6, 1966 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Wichita, where she began working for Cessna Aircraft Company. They later moved to Burden and then made their home in Winfield.

In 1991, they moved to Dexter, Kansas and bought Neubecker Liquor Store. They later added Neubecker Mini Storage. They continued to run the business until the late 1990's, when they sold it and retired. After retirement, Karon worked for SRS as a transport driver for juveniles. In June of 2002, she and Eddie made their final move back to Winfield.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Winfield and the Winfield Elk's Lodge. Karon enjoyed going to garage sales, traveling to see family, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always had a fondness for animals.

Her sons: Rick Neubecker of Desert Hot Springs, CA; David Neubecker of Winfield; Jimi Young of Wichita; John Young of Wichita; David Penedia of Oklahoma;

Her daughter: Kimberly Neubecker of Winfield;

Her sister: Carol Waldschmidt of Dexter; and

Her brother: Randy Wood of Kansas;

Her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Karon was preceded in death by a sister, Melva Case, a brother, Tony Wood, and her two sons, Dennis and Robin Neubecker.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Cambridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.

A Memorial has been established in Karon's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
