Karen Kaye Floyd, 81, of Winfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2021, after an unexpected illness. She went peacefully in her home with loved ones by her side.
She was born February 20, 1940, in Winfield to Guy and Georgiena (Piersol) Morgan. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School.
Karen was united in marriage to Norman "Bill" Floyd on February 20, 1962. To this union, a son was born. The couple later divorced.
Karen held many jobs throughout her life including working at Southwestern Bell, the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, William Newton Hospital, and St. Francis in Wichita. She also worked part-time for the Winfield Daily Courier. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed working in her flower garden.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Floyd and his wife, Sherry; a grandson; great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her sisters, Vida Stout, Ruby Doll, Marie Hankins, Linda Hankins and Lila Faye Kutz.
Private burial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
A memorial has been established in Karen's name for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
