Obituary

Judy A. Shelton, 78, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, March 15, 2020 at South Central Kansas Medical Center.

Born December 1, 1941 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Paul Orville and Gladys Mae (McCord) Shephard. She was raised and received her education in Winfield and attended Winfield High School. While in high school, Judy worked at A&W.

She was united in marriage to Earnie "Curtis" Shelton on July 18, 1964 at the Church of Christ in Winfield. The couple made their first home in Winfield where Judy was a homemaker. They later moved to their home outside Arkansas City and Judy worked at William Newton Hospital, Rest Haven, and Winfield Senior Living. She enjoyed watching movies, particularly John Wayne, and listening to music. She was a big Elvis and Cher fan. She also enjoyed game nights with family and friends, working crafts, and writing poetry. She was known as "Grandma Sparkles" by the grandchildren for her use of glitter in her craft projects.

Her family includes her husband Curtis Shelton of Arkansas City; her children, Michelle Smith of Winfield; Tanya Groom and husband, Ronald of Winfield; Shawna Presson and husband, Bill of Newkirk, OK; Curtis Paul Shelton and wife, Jill of Winfield; Tina Lopez and husband, Randy of Arkansas City; her cousins, Bill Shephard and wife, Evelyn of Buffalo, OK; Linda Herburger and husband, Kip of Winfield; Nancy McCoy and husband, Hal of Andover; her grandchildren, Amanda Walker, Afton Smith, Cassandra Wilson, Dustin Groom, Chase Hoyt, Kaytlin Hoyt, Taylor Presson, McKenzie Presson, Jorden Shelton, Kayla Shelton, Jordan Elam, Gabriel Pitts, Colton Schalk, Haley Devore, Grady Jordan; and her great grandchildren, Jacob, Alena, Mason, Dawson, Christian, Ayden, Kennedy, Abel, Amelia, Karma, Keyshawn, Kyra, Elijah, Aliviah, Colton, Kace, Sophie, Trygg, Oaklee, Everly, Kaydin, Kinley, Carsyn, Weston, Gunner, and one due in September.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.

A memorial has been established in Judy's name for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
