Judith Helene Bink, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2021, at William Newton Hospital.
Judith was born November 18, 1939 in Winfield at St. Mary's Hospital to William "Bill" and Ruby (Harris) Bink. The family moved to Hoisington in 1941, where she attended school and graduated in 1957. She then attended Bethany Nazarene College (Southern Nazarene University) in Bethany, Oklahoma, where she received a BS degree in business education and later completed an MS degree at Fort Hays State University.
She began her teaching career in Odin, Kansas. She later taught in Minneapolis, Kansas, Newton, and Hoxie, where she also taught night classes for Colby Community College. While teaching at Winfield for 20 years, she also taught some night classes at Cowley County Community College. After retiring from 38 years of teaching, Judith worked part time for two years in the Cowley County District Court.
She was active in Kansas Business Education Association, Winfield National Education Association, and a life member of KNEA-Retired and NEA-Retired and held various offices in those groups.
Judith attended the Church of the Nazarene and was a lifetime member. She served as president of the Nazarene Missions International, was a member of the district council, on the church board, and volunteered for several tasks. In the community, Judith worked on the election board and also delivered Meals on Wheels. She loved to travel and took six trips to Europe. In addition, she and friends traveled to many states in the US, Canada, Alaska, and Mexico. Her other hobbies were reading, gardening, and visiting old cemeteries.
In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her sister Faith Navarro, niece Darcy Nimmo, close friend Larry Rood, and longtime friend Sue Rogers in July 2021.
Survivors include her sister Willetta James of Summerville, SC; four nieces; two nephews; and several cousins.
Graveside funeral services will be held at the Hoisington Cemetery in Hoisington, Kansas on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 3 to 7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, Judith requested memorials be made to the Winfield First Church of the Nazarene or Habitat for Humanity. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
