Juanita M. Triplett, 96, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, October 3, 2024, at Winfield Senior Living.
Born June 17, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of Claude S. and Bertha A. (Koona) Whitson. She was raised and received her education in Wichita.
Juanita was united in marriage to Harry "Kenneth" Triplett on June 26, 1949. The couple made their home in Burden their entire married lives. Juanita worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in the Pediatric Handicap Ward for ten years. Following retirement, she was a Foster Grandparent for Central of Burden schools. Kenneth preceded her in death on October 7, 1996.
She was known for her popcorn balls, making hundreds every year for Halloween. She also enjoyed making cakes and brownies for people as well as for doctor's offices, the Burden Fire Department, and the City of Burden. She and Kenneth were KU basketball enthusiasts. She enjoyed cooking with her niece Vera every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas for all their family members.
Her family includes her son Terry Triplett and wife, Linda of Winfield; her daughter-in-law Pat Triplett of Burden; her grandchildren, Ryan Triplett, Marie Triplett, Brian Triplett, Sherry Anderson, Kenny Triplett and Darrin Triplett; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by a son Robert "Bob" Triplett, two sisters, Betty Huff and Viva Brown, a brother, Calvin Whitson, a grandson, Rodney, a great grandson Austin, and her niece Vera Trail.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Burden Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Juanita's name for Central of Burden Schools. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
