JUANITA M. JARBOE, 98, of Winfield, Kansas, and former Cedar Vale, Kansas resident, passed away Sunday morning, February 15, 2015 at Winfield Resthaven.
Born on December 2, 1916 in Princeton, Kansas, she was the daughter of Sol and Idella Mae (Smith) Russell. At a very young age, the family moved to Colorado and when they returned to Kansas, it was by way of covered wagon. She graduated from South Haven, Kansas High School.
Juanita was united in marriage to Albert A. Jarboe on June 12, 1936 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home on property east of Rome, Kansas, that belonged to Albert's grandfather. They moved to Cedar Vale in 1938. Albert farmed and Juanita was a fulltime homemaker. Mr. Jarboe preceded her in death on January 8, 2011.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, cooking, sewing and gardening.

Her great-grandchildren: Travis Jarboe, Emily Jarboe, Jevyn Voss, Jaden Voss, JaeLee Voss, Nicole Walker, Nura Haroual, Aya Haroual, Sarah Jarboe, Tucker Jarboe, Stockton Jarboe, Olivia Jarboe and Owen Jarboe; and
Her great great-grandson: Cooper Glenn Voss.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Glenn and Leonard Jarboe; her brothers, Norman and Lawrence Russell; and her sister, Idalla Gilbin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. Interment will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Juanita's name for the People's Place in Cedar Vale. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
