Joyce Marie Baalmann, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday morning, December 28, 2020.
Born July 3, 1934 in Ft. Fairfield, Maine, she was the daughter of Mansfield and Etta "Pearl" (Embleton) O'Connor. She was raised and received her education in Ft. Fairfield.
Joyce was united in marriage to Edwin Baalmann on October 24, 1959 in Caribou, Maine. The couple made their first home in Caribou before moving to Udall, Kansas in 1961. Joyce was proud to be a homemaker and care for her children. She also worked at the grocery store in Udall, the nursing home in Belle Plaine, Kansas, the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, and the Country Day School in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Due to Edwin's job with Boeing, the couple lived all over the country including New York, Michigan, Texas, South Dakota, and Arkansas. Joyce was a devoted wife, caring for everything Edwin needed. In 1997, they moved to Winfield to be near their children and grandchildren.
While living in Udall, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She later became a founding member of the New Life Interfaith Chapel. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, teaching her grandkids to cook, shopping and going to her grandchildren's activities. She had a passion for caring for those in need.
Her family includes her husband, Edwin of Winfield; her daughters, Carmen Marsh of Winfield; Lori Christian and husband, Robert of Derby; Toni Baalmann and Royce Williams of Winfield; her grandchildren, Stephanie; Sarah and husband, Erik; Derek; Kent and wife, Kelly; Austin; Lucas; Hannah; Tyler; Chad and wife, Amber; and Garret; her great grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Bentley, Caden, Braelynn, Kenzli, Ava, and Lonnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Davey and her six siblings, Floyd, Vincent, Reta, Paul, Anna, and Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at a later date. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 1, 2021 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Joyce's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
