Obituary

Josephine Ruth Stucky, 92, of Winfield, Kansas, formerly of Wellington, passed away Saturday morning, October 19, 2019 at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.

Born February 25, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri, she was the daughter of John Samuel and Margarette Blanch (Van Sickle) Charboneau. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, Atlanta, and Burden. As a young woman, Jo worked as a telephone operator in Winfield and at Henderson Drug Store and Santa Fe Railroad. She married Raymond Henry Parsons on February 19, 1946 at the Methodist Parsonage in Wellington, Kansas. The couple had three children and later divorced in 1973.

She was united in marriage to Harry Albert "Hap" Stucky on January 4, 1979 at the Methodist Church in Wellington. Jo and Hap made their home on Hap's farm southeast of Wellington. Jo worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center and was a Licensed Mental Health Technician. She worked 23 years before retiring in July 1986. She then worked as an office assistant at the Job Service Office in Wellington. She worked eight years before retiring again in December 1995. Hap preceded her in death on February 6, 2017.

Jo was a member of the Burden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, music, and going to get-togethers with her husband. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Her family includes her son David Parsons of Derby; her daughters, Claudia Sue Satterlee of Winfield; Katherine Lynn Hensley and husband, David Alan of Mulvane; her step-son Mark Bennett Stucky of Glastonberry, CT; her six grandchildren, Bryan Heath Satterlee, Michele Dian Eckermann, Robin Ann Westmoreland, Kourtney Alyn Carson IV, Cody Alan Hensley, Aubrey Kate Hensley; her great grandchildren, Heath Glen Satterlee, Lane Evan Hoyt, Kendall Shaye Hoyt, Jared August Eckermann, Grace Taren Eckermann, Frank Lee Carson V, Henry David Carson, Elizabeth Katherine Carson, Frances Margaret Carson, Carter Alan Hensley, and Alexander Cole Hensley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jo was preceded in death by ten brothers and nine sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. A visitation will be held at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.

A memorial has been established in Jo's name for the Kansas Veterans Home. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
