Obituary

JOSEPH MIGNONE, JR., 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 29 , 2010 at his home.

Joseph was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. His family moved to Bethpage N.Y. when he as 4. In 1943 Joseph went into the army where he served in Burma. He was very proud he served in World War II, he loved his country, In 1945 he was honorably discharged.

Joseph married Marion Garner in 1949. They lived in Commack N.Y. where they raised a family for 25 years. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in June of 2009. He worked for Grumman for 30 years where he worked on military planes. He retired from Grumman in 1980. In 1981, he worked for Hauppauge School District until he finally retired in 1985. In 1985 he moved to Winfield where he lived until 1991, when he moved to Las Vegas, NV. He moved back to Winfield in 1995 where he lived until he passed.

He loved to watch old cowboy movies. He also liked to read cowboy books. He enjoyed listening to music from the big band era. He loved to play golf and played in tournaments at his job at Grummans. He was proud that he won a couple of trophies. He started as a caddie at a young age where he learned to play and love the game. He was also proud that he passed his love of the game to his son.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Philomena Mignone, brothers, Rocco Mignone, Freddie Mignone, and sisters, Mary Byrnes, Katie Bruno, Nettie Wagenknecht and Theresa Tedesco.

His family includes:
His wife: Marion of the home;
His son: Louis Mignone of Winfield, KS;
His daughter: Kathleen Mignone of Winfield, KS;
His brothers: Louis Mignone and Michael Mignone both of Long Island, NY; and
His sisters: Millie Maziaz of Long Island, NY.

He loved his family and was a good and kind man. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Joseph's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
