Gutierrez, Jr.

Jose "Joey" Gutierrez, Jr., 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, February 10, 2022, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Born October 12, 1955, in Winfield, he was the son of Jose "Joe" and Delores "Lola" (Lopez) Gutierrez. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1973. While in school, Joey played baseball and football, receiving an All Conference Award as a Center. Following high school, he worked at Greif Brothers. He then attended Wesley School of Nursing, graduating in 1978.
Joey was united in marriage to Susie Zinn on January 3, 1981, in Wichita. The couple made their first home in Wichita and Joey attended Newman University, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1984. The couple then moved to Andover, where they remained until moving to Winfield in 1995. Joey spent over 30 years working at Wesley Medical Center as a Nurse Anesthetist, where he was well respected. He recently finished his career working at the Cancer Center in Wichita.
He attended New Hope Fellowship Church in Winfield. He had a passion for music and enjoyed following current events. He was known for his great sense of humor and also enjoyed New York Yankees baseball, playing the piano, and playing with his dogs Max and Minnie.
His family includes his wife Susie Gutierrez of Winfield; his daughter Lindsay Gutierrez-Bratt and husband, Sean of Andover; his sons, Nick Gutierrez of Chicago, IL; Michael Gutierrez and wife, Ally of Searcy, AR; and his sisters, Gina Gutierrez of North Little Rock, AR; Gloria Garcia of Andover; Angie Gutierrez of Winfield.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family burial will be held at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday, February 14, 2022, from 3 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Joey's name for New Hope Fellowship Church and the Winfield Food Pantry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
