Born February 10, 1919 in Scammon, KS, he was the son of John Carl, and Myrtle (Carey) McNally. He was raised, by his paternal grandparents, and received his education in Girard, graduating in 1938. As a young man, Glenn enjoyed traveling the country as a Hobo, hopping trains to get where he needed to go. He later commented to his children that he made it all the way around the United States, twice. As a young man he also enjoyed building his Model T from the frame up with his grandfather. He also worked as a baseball player in work camps during the depression.
He was united in marriage on February 14, 1940 to Iris N. Keplinger, in Newton, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Wichita. In 1943 Glenn joined the Army Air Corp and proudly served his country for almost three years. While in the service he was stationed in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Nevada. He joined the Air Corp to fly airplanes, and he learned to fly, the PT 17, PT 19, AT 10, and the AT 6, as well as others. After the service the couple returned to Wichita, where he became a certified flight instructor. They remained in Wichita until 1961, when they moved to Winfield. Glenn held many different positions while employed for 44 years at Beech Aircraft, retiring in 1984.
