John Edward Findley, 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at his home.
Born November 30, 1932 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Mark H. and Mary A. (Bergant) Findley. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1950. After high school, he worked as a Pressman at the Winfield Courier for three years. In 1953, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1955.
John was united in marriage to Jacqueline Roberts on June 17, 1958 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. In 1960, he began working as a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service. He remained at the post office for over 27 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed cabinetry, was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and his passion was coaching softball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed sitting outside on his swing and smoking his pipe.

His grandchildren: Adrian Briles, Tristan Briles, Ashley Robinson, Latisha Lopez, Tyrone Clay, Paul Clay, Jr., and Whitney Clay; and
His 21 great grandchildren with one on the way.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
