Obituary

John D. Crow, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, January 6, 2023, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.

Born December 17, 1956, in Winfield, he was the son of Bernard "Dean" and Joan (Worden) Crow. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1974. John then attended mechanics school at Cowley County Community College. He married Dedra Reynolds December 27, 1977, and the couple had two children.

He was united in marriage to Paula Banks on January 9, 2004. The couple made their home in John's childhood home. John worked in construction and at Cessna Aircraft before making his career with the City of Winfield. He worked as a fireman and in the Park's Department, and later at the City Lake, retiring after 36 years of service as the Lake Supervisor. Following retirement, John enjoyed working for Gottlob's.

He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and he and Paula were the International Couple of the Year in 2004 and 2005. John loved any time spent with family. He loved skating, fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed mechanic and carpentry work, and tinkering around.

His family includes his wife Paula of Winfield; his children, Cami Crow of Wichita; Amy Foreman and husband, James of Oklahoma City, OK; Kennton Hoffman and wife, Kyra of Udall; Tyler Hoffman of Ama, Louisiana; Rendi Hoffman of Winfield; his siblings, Judy Nation and husband, Alan of Winfield; Jerry Crow and wife, Cheryl of Winfield; his grandchildren, Gabby Avery, James Foreman IV, Kirsten Kessinger, Emma Hoffman, Caydence Billiter, Kierran Hoffman, Lillian Hoffman, Anson Tovar, Jace Conner, Cara Conner.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a niece Amanda Carver and a nephew Toby Nation.

Per John's request, private burial will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in John's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
