JOHN W. BARNETT, 80, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Born on November 27, 1930 in rural Cowley County, he was the son of Ted and Marie (Donley) Barnett. He was raised and received his education in the Ashton, Kansas area and moved to Udall in 1947. He graduated from Udall High School in 1948.
He was united in marriage to Vida E. Durham on August 21, 1950 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in rural Udall where they farmed. In addition to making farming his lifetime career, he owned and operated Barnett's Used Cars for 20 years. Vida preceded him in death on June 3, 2004.
John was united in marriage on July 9, 2005 to Gladys Engleman in Udall, Kansas.
John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Udall where he had served as deacon and taught Sunday school for several years. He had also served on the Udall Coop Board for several years.

His sons: Kirk Barnett and wife Luanne, and Mark Barnett and wife Cinda all of Udall, KS;
His grandchildren: Brad Barnett, Ginger Hopper, Amber Barnett and Vanessa Barnett; and
His great-grandchildren: Halee, Tanner, Austin, Payton, Brayden, Deshawne, Jayden, Cayden, Devon and Darian.
In addition to his parents and first wife Vida, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nelda Teter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Udall. Interment will follow at Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 10, 2011. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M, that evening.
A memorial has been established in John's name for the First Baptist Church in Udall. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
