Joel F.
Tovar
July 15, 1985 – June 23, 2021
Joel Frazier Tovar, 36, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
Born July 15, 1985, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Mary and Jesse. Joel was raised in Winfield and attended Winfield Public Schools through sixth grade. He was then home schooled through twelfth grade.
Joel first began working at age 16 for a local interior decorating company, re-doing floors, laying carpet, and more. He moved on to cleaning windows and offices. He then worked for a local computer business for several years. Later he began working in a restaurant, where he quickly moved into management.
When Joel wasn't working, he enjoyed playing boardgames, video games, cooking, and making up his own recipes. He especially enjoyed sharing and teaching these things to his son. Joel loved learning. If something was of interest to him, he would spend hours researching the subject. This made it very difficult to beat him at trivia games.
Joel had two sons, Anson and Ashura. He loved his children greatly. He loved spending time with his son, and often said how amazing they both were, and that they were the best part of him and were his greatest accomplishments.
Joel's family includes his two sons, Anson Tovar of Winfield; Ashura Tovar of Oxford; his mother Mary Munson of Winfield; his grandparents, Linda Scott and husband, Virgil; his aunts, Judy Wittenborn and husband, Mark of Douglass; Dawn Andes and husband, Klay of Winfield; Leticia Treviño of Las Vegas, NV; his uncle Fernando Treviño of Hanska, MN; and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joel was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, Harold A. Munson who was his mentor and father figure, his grandfather Henry Tovar, grandmother Enriqueta Treviño, great grandfathers, Arthur H. Munson and Jack Anderson, great grandmothers, Nellie Ruth Anderson and Ethyl Munson, and one unborn child.
