Obituary

Joe Wayne Perrigo, born June 23, 1943 in Independence, Kansas, passed away November 11, 2019 due to medical complications at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Fearol Jolly Perrigo and his father, Fred Perrigo.

He is survived by his adopted son Roy Perrigo (wife, Connie); brother Jack Perrigo (wife, Judy); Jim Perrigo (companion, Fred); two nephews, Brian Perrigo, Brant Perrigo (wife, Michelle); and niece, Kristy (husband, Wade); and many great nieces and nephews.

Joe was a graduate of Grenola Rural High School and Southwestern College, with a bachelor degree in speech. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri, and was admitted into the Doctor of Ministry Program at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Joe served several churches across the United States, starting his pastoral career in Kansas at Bentley Methodist Church. During his ministerial years, much of Joe's focus was to the deaf community.

An accomplished, self-taught musician, Joe could play a variety of instruments, including banjo, piano, organ, harmonica, dulcimer, and trumpet. He also enjoyed painting and researching his family's genealogy.

Joe spent his later years in Winfield, serving his community, especially focusing on people in need.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 18, 2019 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Winfield Food Pantry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
