Joe Michael Kreie, Sr., 67, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2015 at William Newton Hospital.

Born March 1, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of James C. and Janis (McPeek) Kreie. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1965.

Following high school, Joe worked at the Oxford Mill. He moved to Colorado shortly after and worked for Command Science. He owned and operated a welding shop in Colorado Springs for around ten years. He moved back to Winfield in 2005 to be near family.

Joe married Carmen Metz and to this union a daughter, Lisa was born. He later married Linda Montoya. To this union two children, Joe and Angela were born.

He enjoyed cars and guns. He was a musician and loved playing the guitar. He loved the mountains, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

His family includes:
His children: Lisa Kreie of Peyton, CO; Joe Kreie, Jr. of Winfield; and Angie Byrd and husband, Jerry of Winfield;
His sisters: Kitra Workman and husband, Max of Mulvane; Jaime Smith and husband, Cleve of Augusta;
His grandchildren: Alexandra Rodriguez of Colorado Springs, CO; and Charity, Jordan, Jayden and Chrissie Byrd of Winfield;
His great grandchildren: Acen of Winfield; and Fabien of Colorado Springs, CO;
Numerous nieces and nephews; and
His K9 companion: Ike.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will hold an informal celebration of life memorial service at Holy Name Parish Hall, 700 Fuller in Winfield, on Saturday, March 14, 2015 beginning at 2:00 P.M. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Joe's name for the Kansas Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
