Jody Diane (Smith) Enns, 65, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Cumbernauld Village.
Jody was born July 21, 1957 in Ness City, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and JoAnn (Pearson) Smith. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1975 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sterling College. In 2014, Jody was married to Carolyn Enns in Maine.
Growing up, Jody enjoyed playing sports and was able to continue her passion in college where she lettered in three different sports: volleyball, basketball, and track. Her favorite event in track was high jump. After college, Jody taught P.E., coached many sports, and worked in the childcare field.
Along with her athletic talent, Jody was a creative artist. She excelled in watercolor, oil paint, drawing, and ceramic art. She also loved crafting, especially creating cards and artwork from different papers.
Jody was known for her smile and her optimistic attitude. She showed great courage in her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. At Cumbernauld, she took care to say hello to others there everyday, hoping to bring joy into their lives.
Preceding Jody in death were her wife, Carolyn, her parents George and JoAnn Smith, and her brother Grant.
Jody's family includes her siblings: George Smith and his wife Suzanne, of Burlington, Michael Smith and his wife Elgena of Clay Center, Janet Spoon and her husband Gene of Winfield, Tracy Smith and his wife Anita of Oxford, Scott Smith of Sheridan, Wyoming, Julie Graham and her husband Eric, of Winfield, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.
A memorial has been established in Jody's name for Cumbernauld Village. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
