Obituary

JOAN WILLIS, 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at her home.

Born on December 3, 1932 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Joe and Eliza (Thompson) Davis. She was raised and received her education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1950. She later attended Southwestern College.

She was united in marriage to Floyd J. Willis on January 6, 1952 in Arkansas City, Kansas. Joan worked for the Lee Turner family as a babysitter. She later was employed at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in the food service department. She retired in 1997. Mr. Willis preceded her in death on June 14, 2009.

She was a member of the Bethel AME Church in Winfield and the Order of the Eastern Star-Manilla Chapter #28 Her hobbies included reading and watching soap operas.

Her family includes:
Her daughter: Karla J. Willis of Winfield, KS; and
Her sister: Shirley Faucette of Winfield, KS.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Claudette J. Willis; and her brothers, Ward, Bill, Dave and Joe Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 13, 2010.

A memorial has been established in Joan's name for the Bethel AME Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
