Obituary

Jimmie Lockyear, 59, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2016 at Via Christi St Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Born October 11, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Edward "Friday" and Gladys Mae (Keesey) Lockyear. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1974. After school, Jimmie began working as a painter with Bruce Fuqua.

On January 18, 1977, he began working for Gott and stayed with the company as they later became Rubbermaid. He remained with Rubbermaid as a forklift driver for over 35 years until retiring due to health reasons.

Jimmie was united in marriage to Bethy Knight on May 9, 2009. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Winfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and riding his Harley. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

His children: Jelinda Gose and husband, Kevin of Spring Hill; Johnathon Lockyear and wife, Kacie of Rock; Christopher Lockyear of Winfield;
His step-sons: Ryan and Tyler Creed;
His mother: Gladys Lockyear of Oxford;
His brother: Allen Lockyear and wife, Mary of Winfield;
His sister: Susan Jenkins-Lockyear of Dania Beach, FL; and
His grandchildren: Morgan Gose, Lindsay Gose, Kirsten Lockyear and Marc Lockyear.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.

A memorial has been established in Jimmie's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
