John Hefley

Jimmie John "Jim" Hefley, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, February 6, 2019 at William Newton Hospital.
Born June 8, 1934 in Mt. Judy, Arkansas, he was the son of Willie P. and Blanche (Hoover) Hefley. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas. Jim moved to Kansas in 1952 and began working for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. He worked for the Wichita Sheriff's Department for a short time when he was younger. Jim made a career working as an all-around maintenance guy for many different companies including heating and air companies.
He was united in marriage to Judy Marie Lawrence on June 15, 1989 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield. There was nothing Jim could not fix. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and working in his workshop.
His family includes his wife Judy of Winfield; his sons, Rick Hefley of Winfield; Martin Hefley of Wichita; Jeffrey Roberts of Wichita; Dean Roberts and wife, Michelle of Ponca City, OK; his grandchildren, Dion Roberts; Noah Roberts; Evan Roberts; Owen Roberts; Atalissa Rodke and husband, Patrick; Alexis Pinkston and husband, Tyler; Austin Roberts; Aliayah Roberts; Ayden Roberts; and his great grandchildren, Damon Rodke, Ava Rodke, Addison Pinkston, and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Ernest Hefley, Jess Hefley, Emma Ford, and a grandson, Jason Hefley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4-6 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Jim's name for the William Newton Hospital Foundation and the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
