JIMMIE W. "JIM" BLAKEY, 84, passed away August 22, 2014 at Good Samaritan Village under the care of hospice.
Jim was born in Winfield, May 25, 1930, the son of Nettie (Patterson) and Ralph Blakey. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1948. Jim began working part-time in Woods 15th Street Grocery. From there, he went to work for Kroger and later the Dillon Company in Winfield, Wellington, Hutchinson and Salina. Upon retiring over 20 years ago, he and his wife returned to Winfield.
Jim and Ardeth Hoyt married on December 27, 1949 at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Winfield. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield, serving as a Deacon and Elder. He enjoyed tending his flowers, watching college basketball, and of all things, grocery shopping.

Son: Michael Blakey and wife, Patricia of Ocala, FL;
Grandsons: Matthew Blakey and wife, Lori of Oswego, IL; and Paul Blakey and wife, Diana of Winter Garden, FL;
Great Grandson: Grayson Blakey (son of Matt and Lori);
Sister: Vivian Wheeler of Mt. Home, AR; and
Brother-in-law: Harley Hoyt and wife, Betty of Winfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Joe Blakey.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
A Memorial has been established in Jim's name for the First Presbyterian Church or may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
