Jewell Mae Edmonson, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2010 at her home.
Born May 27, 1927 in Harrison, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Walter M. and Bertha L. (Gay) Flippo. She was raised and received her education in Capps, Arkansas.
Jewell married Jack Edmonson on January 12, 1946 in Berryville, Arkansas. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. In 1958 she married Perry Utter in Cassville, Missouri. The couple owned restaurants in Monett and Rocky Comfort, Missouri. In 1962 they moved to Udall to help manage a restaurant. The couple divorced in 1965 and Jewell moved to Winfield to be near family. While in Winfield she worked at Whittles Shoe Store and later became a foster grandparent.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and watching the Weather Channel.

Her sisters: Helen Wilson of Winfield; Betty Brannon and husband, Marvin of Winfield;
Her 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and
Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Jewell was preceded in death by her sister Freda Wheeler, her brother Walter Flippo Jr., and her granddaughter Sarah Djurovic.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday August 12, 2010.
A Memorial has been established in Jewell's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
