Jessie H. Allen, 105, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Winfield Senior Living in Winfield.

Born October 12, 1912 in Kinderhook, Illinois, she was the daughter of John Herbert and Lily Elmira (Greeno) Lippincott. She was the oldest of six children and named Jessie Hazel so her initials would be the same as her dad's. In July 1936, she married Byron C. Allen and shared the life of a farm wife and homemaker for 47 years. He preceded her in death in September 1976.

Her life encompassed a century of hardship and change. During her later years, she discovered the joy of creating beautiful paintings on paint-by-number projects. She especially enjoyed the challenge of the smallest areas. Her deepest regret was when she could no longer do this beloved craft.

She is survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was survived briefly by her daughter, Barbara who followed her on January 1, 2018.

A combined memorial service will be held for Jessie and her daughter, Barbara on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church. Inurnment for Jessie will be held at 3:00 P.M. at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita. Friends may visit with the family at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Jessie's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
