Jerry W. Norton, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, August 8, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born March 19, 1940, in Winfield, he was the son of Ray and Wilma (Tolles) Norton. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1958. He later joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. After receiving an honorable discharge, Jerry returned to Winfield.
He married Mary Gass on June 25, 1967, in Winfield. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced. Jerry worked at Gott Manufacturing for many years, as well as farming west of Winfield. In 1977, he relocated the farm to the Cup and Saucer Hill in Winfield.
He was united in marriage to Deborah “Debbie” Rogian on October 13, 1989, in Bentonville, Arkansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. They owned and operated Norton Enterprises beginning in 1988 until Jerry’s retirement. After retirement he continued to manage the farm. Debbie preceded him in death on November 14, 2024.
He was a member of Tisdale Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing Bluegrass music, attending Bluegrass Festivals in both Winfield and Guthrie, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed traveling, especially their cruise to Alaska and time in the Cayman Islands.
He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Dvorak of Winfield; Cindy Derifield of Park City; his brother Gene Norton of Arkansas City; his grandchildren, Logan Satterfield, Mason Branscum (Logan), Regan Lauffer, Gabrielle Derifield, Emma Derifield, and Tristan Derifield; his two great grandsons, Zaylynn and Levi; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Bandit.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was preceded in death by a son David Norton, a brother Joe Keith Norton, and a sister Joyce Ann Norton Hite.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Jerry’s name for Tisdale Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
