Jerry Gilbert Drennan, 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, August 17, 2024, at Ark City Presbyterian Manor.
Born October 14, 1938, in Winfield, he was the son of Roy Dean and Virginia (Kenreich) Drennan. He was raised in Winfield, attending Bryant Elementary and graduating from Winfield High School in 1956. He then attended Southwestern College, graduating in 1961. As a young man, Jerry worked as a farm hand.
He was united in marriage to Peggy Converse on May 6, 1962, at the College Hill Methodist Church in Wichita. The couple made their home in Winfield where Jerry worked for Santa Fe Railroad before beginning his career with D&D Farm Equipment. Jerry, alongside his father and brothers, Bill and Bob, expanded the local John Deere implement business at the west edge of Winfield. He retired after over 46 years of service.
Jerry was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church. In the 60's, he was involved in the Jaycee's. He enjoyed gardening and watching sporting events. He especially enjoyed attending local sports, Viking football, Southwestern basketball, etc. He loved watching and supporting his sons and grandchildren in whatever they were doing. His lifetime passion was woodworking.
His family includes his wife Peggy Drennan of Winfield; his sons, Mark Drennan and wife, Marsha of Clarkston, MI; Steve Drennan and wife, Christy of Springfield, MO; his brother Bob Drennan of Winfield; his sister-in-law Nancy Drennan of Winfield; his grandchildren, Mattie Leigh, Marek Dean, Isabella Grace, Jackson Dean, Joe, and Carter; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother William "Bill" Drennan.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Jerry's name for Grace United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
