Jenifer Lynn
Elstun
October 28, 1972 – December 6, 2023
Jenifer Lynn Elstun went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 6, 2023, at her house in the flints hills of Kansas surrounded by family.
Jenifer was born the second of two children to Robert and Judith Taylor on October 28, 1972, in Fall River, Massachusetts. She moved to Conway Springs, Kansas when she was 10-12 years old where she graduated high school in 1990. Jen loved to run track and cross country and work on the farm cooking for a local farmer and of course Gambino's. She went to a year of college at Hutchinson, but decided to join the workforce, beginning in screen printing and Sonic.
Jenifer met Jason Elstun on January 1, 1995, and was united in marriage on August 3, 1996. They bought a house in Udall, Kansas in 1997 where she continued to work at Graphic Systems until January 1, 2001, when they moved to Burden, Kansas to begin a family. In 2002 she began working part time for the USPS as a rural carrier assistant and continued working those two jobs until 2004 when they were blessed with the life of their only child Julia. She finished up her working career for the Winfield Post Office as a clerk and in 2013 she retired.
Jenifer loved to do many different things outdoors. From gardening to canning food for the year, to hiking and going for walks in the flint hills around her home, to camping and fishing. She would even allow Jason to take the fish off her hooks so that he had something to do while she caught all of the fish. But by far her favorite thing to do was to crochet, especially baby blankets, not only for Julia, but for many other mothers expecting a child. She made countless blankets, potholders, hats, scarves and just about anything that she could find the yarn to do. She even had the chance in October of 2013 to teach a group of mothers and grandmothers in Mozambique, Africa how to crochet so that they could make extra money selling what they made. She also loved sending out encouraging cards to people that needed to hear something just at the right time. Oh, and she loved to smile!!
Jenifer was preceded in death by her parents; Uncle Bill Taylor; Uncle George Smith; Grandma June Elstun, Grandpa Paul Keely, Aunt Frances Pittman and Nephew Camron Harp.
She leaves behind to remember and cherish the time that was given by the Lord, her husband Jason; daughter Julia; brother Robert Taylor; her OTHER dad Harry Elstun; mom Paula Martin; sisters, Jenny and Sarah; brothers-in-law, Ryan and Randy; nieces, Elizabeth and Josie; nephews, Morgan and Mason; uncle Paul Pittman: cousin Meagan and her two sons, Jackson and Paul, and many other cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters, all bound together by the blood of Jesus Christ.
The family will hold a memorial service at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Central Baptist Church in Winfield. Arrangements were entrusted to Miles Funeral Service.
