JEAN ELIZABETH (DUNNELL) BIELBY, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away peacefully Monday, October 25, 2010 at her home.
Born October 18, 1919 in Butler County, Kansas, she was the daughter of John Malin and Edna Josephine (Howard) Dunnell. She was raised on the family farm near Mulvane in Butler County and graduated at the head of her class from Rose Hill High School in 1936.
Jean was united in marriage to William (Bill) Scripps Bielby on December 30, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas at the Church of Christ. The couple made their first home in Wichita, later moving to Lubbock, Texas, then returning six years later to Wichita in connection with Mr. Bielby's work. They moved to Winfield, Kansas in 1956, where Mr. Bielby established the Bielby Dental Laboratory. Mr. Bielby preceded her in death on April 12, 1985.
Jean was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, and was a Founding and Charter member of Winfield's garden club, the Gardenaires. For many years, she assisted with local elections by volunteering to staff the voting precincts. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent working in her flower garden and yard, and especially loved interacting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with word games, jig-saw puzzles, and babysitting.
Her remaining family includes: Her son: William (Bill) Weston Bielby of Anghiari, Italy; Her daughters Linda Louise Archer and husband Dale of Verdigris, OK, and Jeanette Sue Nichols of Winfield, KS; Her brother: Lloyd William (Bill) Dunnell of Udall, KS; Her sisters: Gloria Sickles and husband Warren of Winfield, KS and Virginia Alley and husband Lawrence of Douglass, KS;
Her grandchildren and their spouses: Darren and Bonita Nichols; Dale and Darci Nichols; Melinda (Nichols) and Steve Irvin; Robert and Jodi Archer; Bradley Archer; and Kimberly (Archer) and John Wilber; and Her great-grandchildren: Cole and Rose Nichols; Brandi Nichols; Ashley Nichols; Dustin and Michelle Nichols; Dylan Nichols; Megan Nichols; Zach Nichols; Matthew Hale; Brandon Hale; Jonathan Irvin; Katie Irvin; Lauren Tracy; and Payton Wilken; Mikayla Wilkin and Emily Wilkin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, brothers John Raymond, Howard Alfred, James Edward, and infant John R., and her sisters Marie Josephine (Dunnell) Owen, and infants Mary H. and an unnamed newborn sister.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning, October 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Mulvane Cemetery.
