Jay Bruce, 50, of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, July 9, 2026 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Born December 16, 1975, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Ray and Charlotte Bruce. He was raised and received his education in Atlanta, graduating from Central High School in 1994. He then received a certificate as an Auto Mechanic from a Technical School.

Jay began his Auto Mechanic career at Merle Snyder in Winfield. He later worked several years for John K Fisher in Eldorado until being forced to retire due to health reasons. In addition to working on cars, Jay enjoyed watching TV and hanging out with family. He also enjoyed riding three wheelers and boats, and shooting off fireworks. His nieces and nephews referred to him as the “Cool Uncle”.

He is survived by his mother Charlotte Bruce of Atlanta; his brother Joe Bruce and wife, Tonya of Atlanta; his half siblings, Rick Crowley and wife, Dorothy of Cambridge; Robert Crowley and wife, Becky of Arkansas City; and Gayle Henning; his sister-in-law Peggy Bruce; his nieces and nephews, Danielle Stanley and husband, Tyler of Atlanta; Bo Bruce of Winfield; Maci Burrow and husband, Toby of Winfield; his great nieces, Harper, Nykole, and Suni Jo; and a great nephew Baylor.

In addition to his grandparents, Jay was preceded in death by his father Ray Bruce, stepfather Mike Crowley, and a half brother Ray Bruce.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Atlanta.

A memorial has been established in Jay’s name for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
