James Lloyd York, 60, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, January 9, 2010 at his home.
Born on July 31, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas, he was the son of Edward and Norma (Underwood) York. He was raised and received his education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School. He then attended Southwestern College where he graduated with an EMICT degree. Jim then worked as an EMT for Sedgwick County and later as a substitute teacher in Udall.
He was united in marriage on August 12, 1994 to Kristal Hayes in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in the Winfield area.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. Jim enjoyed the island of Jamaica which he visited many times; he enjoyed the culture, Reggae music, and the people.

His stepson: Patrick Hayes and wife, Arica of Olathe; and
His grandson: Brody of Olathe.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
A time of remembrance for Jim will be held on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., the family will greet visitors at this time.
A Memorial has been established in Mr. York's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
