JAMES LEE WEBSTER, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his home with his family by his side, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born on October 18, 1934 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, he was the son of William Horace and Margie Ann (Koffman) Webster. He was raised and received his education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1952.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1963 in Korea and Germany.
He was united in marriage to Alice Yvonne Foster in 1962 in Udall, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield where they raised 3 children. James was employed for Leland Kemp at the Merchandise Mart where he was a serviceman/repairman. He worked on the Winfield, Arkansas City and surrounding area residents appliances. He later was employed at Western Auto in Winfield as an electrician/repairman and worked for Alan and Jean Heine. James later worked at Binney & Smith Crayola as head electrician and retired in 1997.
James was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3544 and the American Legion Post #10. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working and remodeling his home, working in his yard, and traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Balloon Festivals every year until he became ill. He traveled to Gunnison, Colorado several times and also to Memphis and Kentucky and other places of interest. His beloved miniature Schnauzer "Sadie" was his traveling companion and by his side always. James also enjoyed collecting coins and traveling to coin dealer shows and antique stores.

His youngest daughter: Kimberly Ramage and husband Glen of Blackwell, OK;
His oldest daughter: Vicky Newman who cared for him until his passing, and her fiance' Steve Crosno of Oklahoma City, OK:
His 2 grandchildren who were the apples of his eyes, Joshua Paul Metcalf of Edmond, OK; and Ashley Nicole Campbell and husband Chad Austin Campbell of Tulsa, OK;
His 1st great grand-child: Collin Ryan Lee who was born on April Fools Day, 2009 and was a great blessing to James;
His niece: Margaret Alice Lynch of Stockton, MA; and many nieces, nephews, close friends and relatives. He will be sadly missed by everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Claude Webster; and his sisters, Betty Louise Wright and Hazel Dee Hinson.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Military committal honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends before the service.
A memorial has been established in Mr. Webster's name for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
