JAMES EDWARD TICKEL, 60, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, September 19, 2009 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born on June 15, 1949 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, he was the son of Lyman Beauford and Lois Mae (Burgett) Tickel. He was raised and received his education in Braman, Oklahoma and graduated from Braman High School in 1967. He attended Oklahoma State University for 2 years and then attended Tahlequah Community College. James did harvest work on the family farm and worked on oil rigs.
He lived on the East Coast while pursuing his musical dreams. He later moved to Wichita. From there he moved to Winfield. He was employed at Rubbermaid in the set up crew department and was a foam technician. He retired in 2008.
James was united in marriage on January 29, 1999 to Teresa Bain in Miami, Oklahoma.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #10 in Winfield and had served in the National Guard.

His daughters: Skelley and husband Dave of Swansea, Massachusetts; Robin of Massachusetts; Erin Shannon St. Laurent of Fall River, Massachusetts, Jaema Lee Tickel of Winfield, KS; and Chalen Rae Tickel of Winfield, KS;
His sisters: Wanda Mae Bellew and husband Keith of Wichita, KS; Norma Lee Leabo and husband Ron Clearwater, KS; and Glenda Jean Hawkins and husband Ralph of Mountain Home, AR; and
A host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lyman Beauford Tickel, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will be held at 3:30 P.M., at the Braman Cemetery in Braman, Oklahoma. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2009 and the family will greet friends during that time.
A memorial has been established in Mr. Tickel's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
