Obituary

James C. "Bubba" Palmer, 64, of Arkansas City, passed away Monday evening, January 18, 2016 in Arkansas City.

Born October 6, 1951 in Arkansas City, he was the son of Charles Elmore and Lorene Esther (Hight) Palmer. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas City. He played football, baseball, basketball and was on the track and wrestling teams during high school. He graduated in 1970 from Arkansas City High School. He then attended Junior College at Cowley County where he played football and baseball and obtained his Associates Degree. As a youth, Jim worked with his father for the City of Arkansas City.

Jim was united in marriage to Sharon King on August 18, 1978 in Winfield. The couple made their lifelong home in Arkansas City. He worked for a short time for the railroad and later as a plumber. He was a plumber for Fouts Plumbing as well as various other companies and later was a self-employed plumber. He then worked at Boeing as a plumber. He was a receptionist for Ron's Carpet prior to retiring

Jim enjoyed vintage motorcycles, was a sports nuts and an avid music lover. He was a family man, dedicated husband and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his many stories, one-of-a-kind sense of humor and his infectious laugh.

His family includes:
His wife: Sharon Palmer of Arkansas City;
His son: Jesse Palmer of Arkansas City;
His daughter: Lori (Palmer) Cain of Arkansas City;
His grandchildren: Damian Cain and Ashlyn Cain;
His brothers: Jeff Palmer and wife, Kristy of Kingfisher, OK; Kelly Palmer of Oklahoma City, OK; and
Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Palmer.

Services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Jim's name for the Arkansas City High School Booster Club. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
