JAMES D. MCCALL, 73, of Caldwell, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, January 8, 2011 at Via Christi/St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Born on October 25, 1937 in rural Cedar Vale, Kansas, he was the son of Shellie and Hazel (Wood) McCall. He was raised and received his education in Cedar Vale and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1955. His lifelong career was farming and ranching in Cedar Vale.
He was united in marriage on September 6, 1958 to Judy Foust in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in rural Cedar Vale where Jim continued farming and ranching. The couple moved to Caldwell in 2009.
He enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports, attending rodeos and visiting at the coffee shop.

His daughter: Melinda Neal and husband Marcus of Caldwell, KS;
His sisters: Mary Jane Sweaney of Cedar Vale, KS; Carol Bennett of Overland Park, KS; and Linda Mendenhall of Wichita, KS;
His grandchildren: Clayton and Kristopher Young, Jake McCall and Clay and Jennifer Neal; and Chris Neal; and
His great-grandchildren: Maddie and Mayci Neal.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Lucas David Young.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Vale. Interment will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., that evening.
Memorials have been established in Mr. McCall's name for the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Vale and the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
