Obituary

James L. "Jim" Wind, 77, of Peoria, Arizona, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at 11:15 A.M. at the John C. Lincoln Health Network Deer Valley Hospital, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Born December 25, 1937, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Victor and Margaret (Haifley) Wind. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1955. After school Jim joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the Navy Jim returned to Winfield.

Jim started his family in Wichita, Kansas, and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in the early 1970's and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1987. He worked in Real Estate and Banking and retired as a manager. He enjoyed traveling, exercising, gardening, music, and dancing. He was also a History and World War II buff.

His family includes:
His domestic partner: Barbara Oliver of Phoenix, AZ;
His daughters: Jenjer Wind of San Diego, CA; Laura Schweikert of Phoenix, AZ; Julie Mahoney of Littleton, CO; and
His 5 grandsons, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces.

In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Wind and two brothers, Robert and Charles Wind.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Interment and Military Committal Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield.

Memorials have been established in Jim's name for the ALS Association and for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
