James H. "Jim" Lundy, 85, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, May 1, 2014 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
Born May 5, 1928 in Burden, Kansas, he was the son of Clayton and Cleo (Kempton) Lundy. He was raised and received his education in Burden and at the Masonic Home in Wichita. He graduated from Burden High School in 1946. In May of 1946, Jim enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the end of World War II. On October 11, 1947 he received his honorable discharge from the Army and returned to Burden.
Jim was united in marriage to Patricia "Pat" Sitton on March 12, 1953. The couple made their home in Burden where Jim began working as a heavy equipment operator. In 1959 he went to work as a truck driver for the Cowley County Road and Bridge Department. He remained with the county for over 36 years until retiring as a foreman with the Road and Bridge Department in 1995. After retiring, Jim and Pat enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona.
He was a member of the Burden United Methodist Church, the Clinton Masonic Lodge #233 in Burden, Order of the Eastern Star Burden Chapter # 128, and the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers. He enjoyed carpentering, hunting, and watching KU sporting events.

His grandchildren: Kaleigh Walker and husband, Russell of Los Angeles, CA; Afton Lundy of Overland Park, KS; Fallyne Deao and husband, Kevin of Kansas City, MO; Cameron "Bubba" Lundy and wife, Jamie of Pittsburg, KS; and
His great-grandchildren: Camden Deao and Callie Jo Lundy.
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mildred Lundy and his brothers, Robert and Fred Lundy.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Burden United Methodist Church in Burden, Kansas. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas, on Monday, May 5, 2014, from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Jim's name for the American Cancer Society and for the Burden United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
