James C. "Jim" Harris, 78, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, August 7, 2024 at Kingman Healthcare Center in Kingman, Kansas.

Born July 28, 1946, in Winfield, he was the son of Carrol E. and Bertha L. (Penniston) Harris.  He was raised and received his education in Burden, graduating from Central of Burden High School.  After high school, Jim started his career with the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Jim was united in marriage to Marie Ann Frieden on December 26, 1970, at Central Baptist Church in Winfield.  The couple made their home in Winfield and Jim continued his career of over 40 years with KDOT.  While working at KDOT, he worked on highways and bridges all over the state, from Goodland to Winfield.  He held many positions over the years, including driving the snow plows and inspecting the highways.  Marie preceded him in death on January 12, 2021.

Jim was a member of GracePointe Assembly of God Church where he served in many positions, including Greeter and Deacon.  His life revolved around his activity in the church.  He also enjoyed watching the news, sports, and weather.  He was known for walking around WalMart visiting with people.  When he was younger, he enjoyed farming with his father on the family farm during the summers.

His family includes his children, Sylvia Stenli of Lubbock, TX; LeeAnn Sifuentes and husband, Tony of Kingman; Chris Harris of Winfield; his sisters, Wanda Rigsby of Houston, TX; and Jeanie Krug of Winfield; and his 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, August 24, 2024, at GracePointe Assembly of God Church in Winfield under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Jim's name for GracePointe Assembly of God.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
