James B. "Jim" Bunch, 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, February 1, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita.

Born December 30, 1944, in McComb, Mississippi, he was the son of George A. and Alta Lee (Moore) Bunch.  He was raised and received his early education in McComb before moving with his family to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where he finished his education.  At the age of 18, Jim returned to McComb where he worked in roofing until being involved in a near fatal car accident.  He returned to Sand Springs following the accident.

He was united in marriage to Janice Thomas on December 23, 1965, in Sand Springs.  The couple made their first home in Tulsa, and Jim began working as a foreman in the manufacturing industry.  In 1980, he accepted a position as Plant Manager at Fluid Kinetics and the family relocated to Winfield.  Jim remained at Fluid Kinetics until 1990 when he opened Jim's Short Stop.  One of his favorite things about owning the store was visiting with customers and the many friends that would come in to share a cup of coffee.

He attended Central Baptist Church in Winfield.  He enjoyed golfing, watching football, feeding and watching birds, his work, going for drives to look at the countryside, and checking oil wells for his son.

His family includes his wife, Jan Bunch of Winfield; his sons, Kenny Bunch and wife, Misty of Winfield; Kirby Bunch of Winfield; his brother, G.T. Bunch and wife, Teresa of Tulsa, OK; his grandchildren, Brayton, Brenna, Kabin, and Darika; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Don Bunch.

A memorial has been established in Jim's name for St. Jude Children's Research.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 7, 2022, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, February 4, 2022, from 9 to 5.
