James "Adary" Hull, 95, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, September 4, 2018 at his home.
Born June 19, 1923 in rural Chautauqua County, he was the son of William O. "Bill" and Myrtle (Laird) Hull. He was raised and received his education in Chautauqua County, attending Cedar Vale area schools. After school, he worked for several area ranches before starting with the Chatman and Barnard Ranch in northeast Oklahoma.
Adary was united in marriage to Eleanor Helphingstine on November 1, 1953 in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Adary continued working at the Chatman and Barnard Ranch until moving his family to Douglass, Kansas to work for Prairie Land Cattle Company and later settled in Dexter, where he began working for the LB Ranch. After leaving the LB Ranch, he went to work for Kent Radcliff until retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Dexter Christian Church. He loved fishing and enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends.
His family Includes his wife Eleanor Hull of Dexter; his daughter Audrey Stapleton and husband, Rick Bell of Eagle Rock, MO; his daughter-in-law Val Hull of Wichita; his sisters, Eula Mae Rucker and husband, Jim of Houston, TX; Reba Thompson of Sedan; his grandchildren, Terri Blankenship and husband, Gary of Wichita; Tony Stapleton and wife, Nicole of Wichita; his step grandchildren, Valerie Ice, Ed Ice, and John Ice; and his seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Adary was preceded in death by his son, Albert Hull, three sisters, Ora Bohannon, Una Cook, Ida Moore, four brothers, Roy Hull, Omer Hull, Ernie Hull, Sr., Oscar Hull, and a brother-in-law, Leroy Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Dexter Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield Friday afternoon from 1 to 5.
Memorials have been established in Adary's name for Dexter Christian Church or for Kindred Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
