James Howard "Jim" Chattam, 63, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday afternoon, July 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his children.
Born January 31, 1952 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Raymond Howard Chattam and Lois Faye (Chattam) Collier. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1970.
Jim was united in marriage to Connie Cadwell on January 31, 1972 in Winfield. To this union five children were born. The couple later divorced. Jim worked farming and as an oil field driller for many years. He later worked in construction, traveling extensively with his sons throughout the United States doing commercial roofing. He retired in 2011.
Jim enjoyed watching Westerns, hunting and fishing and was a J.R. Ewing and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He was great at ink pen art, giving anyone a mustache. He especially loved his family, spending time with his children and grandchildren and having Sunday family dinners.

His parents: Raymond Chattam of Burden; and Lois Chattam Collier of Winfield;
His brother and sisters: Jeff Chattam of Burden, and Brenda Randall and Kim Chattam of Winfield;
Special niece: Erin Chattam of Winfield;
His 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen and Jeannetta Groom and Fred Chattam and Hazel Chattam-Richardson, stepfather, Joel Collier, brother, Roger Chattam and his granddaughter, Trinity Faith.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday evening, July 9, 2015 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
