James "Jim" Allen Ceynar, 70, of Douglass, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 27, 2013 at the Andover Heart Hospital.
Born October 1, 1942 in Kenmare, North Dakota, he was the son of Everett Ceynar and Harriett (Berntson) Halverson. He was raised and received his education in North Dakota and Havre, Montana. After school he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country. While in the Navy he was stationed in San Diego, California and in the Pacific Islands. While on leave in the summer of 1961 he met Navella Underwood in Winfield, Kansas. The two continued to write many letters for over 3 years until his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1963.
James was united in marriage to Navella Underwood on February 7, 1964 in Grenola, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield where Jim began working in the construction field. In 1973 they moved to Burden to be near family. In 1979 they moved to Douglass to be closer to his job at Dondlinger and Sons Construction. He worked on many projects including, the Kansas Coliseum, the Epic Center, and the Century II renovation project. Jim continued working for Dondlinger and Sons for over 27 years, retiring as a Labor Foreman.
After retiring he went to work selling cars with his son "Big Al" at Joe Self Chevrolet. He would later travel all over the country with his wife delivering cars and trucks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and listening to his son Brian play country music. He also enjoyed going on many trips with his son Randy, and going to all of his grandchildren's "events". His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and they knew they could always depend on him.

His mother-in-law: Ernestine Morgan of Winfield;
His sister: Bonnie Lee and husband, Rae of Max, ND;
His brother: Gary Ceynar and wife, Jan of Glen Dive, MT;
His grandchildren: Karissa Ceynar, Ashlyn McGee, Madison McGee, Abigail McGee, and Buddy; and
Many brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many close friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, April 1, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 7 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Jim's name for the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
